Event #3: The Steps of a Proper Site Survey

October 4, 2016 / 1pm-2pm EST

The absolute best place and time to do a detailed site survey is when the building and grounds are still on the designer’s table. However, the reality is two-fold; 1) security is usually left as a “last minute” addition to site plans; 2) the majority of security projects are at existing sites. A properly managed site survey in advance of a bid, installation and/or especially a design effort is not a difficult as it sounds. More importantly it can save the end user and the installing contractor tens of thousands of dollars in errors and omissions. A properly managed site survey is the prelude to the final inspection.

If you are looking at adding a couple of cameras to an existing system or perhaps a door to an access control structure, the need for a “Site” Survey is diminished to the point of almost no need. However, if you are looking at designing, installing or creating a project, regardless of size, all sites should be reviewed pursuant to the needs of the system(s) that you intend to use. If you are promoting a bid for the installation of a system design, without a proper site survey attached to your scope of work (SOW) or to your request for proposal (RFP), you are asking for potential disaster once the project goes into full swing. Many change orders that are produced during the stages of an installation of any kind could be avoided if a proper site survey was preformed prior to and during the bid processes.

Although this webinar will be a general overview of the process of managing a site survey (due to session time restraints), it is intended to provide the attendee with a detail of the process of providing and utilizing the results of a professional site survey.

This is a live webinar event. You will receive confirmation and login information for the webinar within one business day of your order. Space is limited and seats are available on a first come, first served basis.
