Troubleshooting a large system or a transient, elusive problem can be daunting. Dividing the troubleshooting process up into manageable-sized parts will help.

In the following pages, we will discuss a number of steps and techniques that will help you troubleshoot even the most complex system.

After completing this module, you should be able to do the following:
  • Define the keys to successful troubleshooting of a fire alarm system.
  • Calculate equivalent resistance and voltage in parallel and series circuits.
  • Classify the types of tools used when troubleshooting a system.
  • Conduct tests and diagnostics on system components.
