In this module, you will begin with an overview of how electricity works and then look at how understanding electricity will help you meet the requirements needed for configuring alarm system power supplies.

After completing this module, you should be able to do the following:
  • Define the basic essentials of electricity and its uses.
  • Classify the characteristics of voltage, current, resistance and power.
  • Distinguish between series and parallel circuit types.
  • Calculate resistance, voltage, current and power for series and parallel circuits.
  • Determine the requirements for primary and secondary power supplies.
